Tattoo removal Q&A
-
Each session is priced by the size of the area treated, from $99 for a small tattoo (up to 3 ร 3 cm, about a 20c coin) to $489 for an A4-sized area. Eyebrow tattoo removal is $149 per session, and your consultation and patch test is $49, which comes off your first treatment. 3-packs, 6-packs and Full Clearance packs save you more, and payment plans are available. See our Prices page for the full list.

Most clients compare it to a rubber band flicking against the skin, or a mild sunburn afterwards. Each pulse lasts a fraction of a second, and we use ice packs to cool the area before and after treatment. We don't supply numbing cream. If you'd like to use one, ask your pharmacist about a suitable product, follow its directions, and let us know at your appointment.
-
Often, yes. Many tattoos can be removed or faded until they are barely visible. How far yours will go depends on how deep the ink is, the colours used and your skin type, so we give you a realistic idea at your consultation.
-
Most clients see noticeable fading within 1 to 3 sessions. Full removal usually takes around 6 to 10 sessions, spaced 8 weeks apart so your skin can heal and your body can clear the ink. Ink colour, density, the age of the tattoo, where it is on your body and your skin type all play a part.
-
Yes, coloured tattoos can be treated. Some colours take more sessions than black ink, so we assess every colour in your tattoo at your consultation.
-
Use a cold pack to ease any heat or swelling. Keep the area clean, dry and covered for the first few days, and avoid swimming, saunas and hot baths until it has healed. Don't pick or pop any blisters or scabs. Keep the area out of the sun and use SPF once it has healed. We give you written aftercare instructions after every session.
-
Scarring is very unlikely. Redness, swelling and blistering are common straight after a session and usually settle within one to two weeks.
-
Yes. We adjust the laser settings to your skin type to lower the risk of pigment changes, and your patch test shows us how your skin responds before your first full session.
-
Not always. We may not be able to treat you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a recent tan, or take certain medications. We go through your health history at your consultation before any treatment.
Fading for a cover-up
-
Yes. Many clients come to us to lighten a tattoo before a cover-up. Fading gives your tattoo artist more freedom with the new design.
-
Usually 2 to 4, although some tattoos need only 1 and others up to 6. Older tattoos and grey-wash work tend to fade faster than dense or newer tattoos.
-
Sessions are spaced 8 weeks apart. Many clients are ready for their cover-up within about 5 to 8 months, including healing time.
-
No. Many clients start with one or two sessions, then let their artist check the result and decide whether it needs more.
-
Yes. Each session costs the same, but fading needs fewer sessions, so the total is lower.
-
Yes. We can target the area your artist wants lighter. Treating the whole tattoo sometimes gives a more even base, so we can talk through what works best for your design.
-
That's fine. Your fading sessions count towards full removal, so you'll need fewer sessions from there.
-
We recommend waiting at least 12 weeks after your final fading session so your skin can fully heal.
-
No. Once your skin has fully healed, it can hold new ink well. Your artist will check the area before starting your cover-up.
-
Yes. We can recommend a few local artists who do cover-up work, and we're happy to talk with your artist about how much fading they need.
Brow tattoo removal
-
Yes. We treat cosmetic eyebrow tattoos from $149 per session, and we always patch test first.
-
It depends on your goal. If you only want them lighter so you can have new brows done, a few sessions may be enough. Fading them completely takes more.
-
Most clients find it quick and very manageable. We use ice packs to keep the area cool and comfortable.
-
Permanent hair loss is very rare. Some clients notice temporary changes, such as slower growth or lighter hairs, but brow hair usually returns to normal quickly. If your hairs look lighter in the meantime, a brow tint can even them out.
-
It comes down to the pigment used in the original tattoo. Cosmetic pigments are usually a blend of colours, and each one breaks down at its own rate. As one colour fades, the others can show through, so brows may look orange, grey or even blue for a while. This is a normal part of the process.
-
In many cases, yes. Every brow tattoo is different, so we assess yours and patch test at your consultation before recommending a plan.
-
Wait at least 6 weeks after your cosmetic tattoo so the pigment and skin can settle before laser treatment.
-
Yes. Wait at least 12 weeks after your final laser session before having new cosmetic tattooing.
-
Laser breaks down the pigment directly and works well on older or deeper pigment. Saline removal relies on the skin's healing process to draw the pigment out, so results can be harder to predict.
